Epcot Adventure

Last Friday night, Carrie invited us to go to the International Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. We were totally excited because we had had a blast a couple of years ago when we went. And, my good friends from work Janice and Tony (they're married) got to come too! So it was: Carrie and Mike, Angie, Lexia and her daughter O., Janice and Tony, and Darin and me. Fun fun fun.

Note: Did you know that EPCOT stands for: Environmental Prototype Community of Tomorrow? You didn't, did you.

Back to the adventure... please remember that this really was my experience. So you get to read about the food and alcohol I ate and drank. Yeah. And also remember that I like to eat, but I was on a budget. Because I'm getting married in six months. Yikes..

So Janice, Tony, Darin, and I drove all together and got to the Boardwalk a little bit early (my fault) so we started the night off walking around, eating taffy, and drinking a beer at the ESPN Zone.

Met up with the rest of the crowd and went in to get some soup.

In Canada.

Got the Cheddar cheese soup and Mission Hill Chardonnay.

That's Canada for you.
(Janice, Del, and Tony)

Wine #1.

* This soup was good. Needed more. Lots more.

Next stop was France. Both Darin and Tony were wanting the escargot, but weren't sure whether it was too early in the night to eat snails... it wasn't.

Yes, that's a snail (in a tiny piece of bread) in Tony's mouth.

Lexia, Carrie, Angie, and O.
(They stopped by England without us and got beer.)

In France, Janice and I got the creme brulee (it was milk chocolate. sigh.), and I got a glass of Gorges Dubocuf Hobnob Chardonnay. Darin got his escargot persillade en brioche (and shared!). Yes I ate snails. They were good. And they don't look like slugs in any way. Shiver.

Next was Louisiana for praline bread pudding. I'm not even going to comment because I want some right now. Darin got the seafood gumbo. And I missed a photo-op with a giant bottle of Tabasco. Sad.

Then Janice and Tony stopped by Morocco (right? somewhere, I don't remember), Darin and I went to New Zealand, and everyone else went to Japan.

Aren't we cute. We're in New Zealand

In New Zealand we waited forever for our lamb sliders (which were good but too much), and I got some Villa Maria Souvignon Blanc. I switched it up a little. I'm cool like that.

We then all got together again in Japan where I had my spicy tuna roll. So good. Made me get a little bit more food in my stomach.

Ang, Del, Carrie, and Janice!

And then there was Germany.

The last time we had gone (in 2005 maybe?), it was Lexia, Carrie, and my goal to drink as many flights of wine as possible. Or wine in general, I guess. It's a more cost efficient way of drinking wine.

Germany has such a thing. Three glasses of wine for seven dollars. Good deal.

Rieslings. Three of them.
Brought to us by a very nervous German.

They made me.
And it's a wine shot. Not recommended.

That took awhile, maybe like 15 minutes? Our server guy was strange, fidgety, and kept giving us new glasses. Like we got over 5 glasses each and used 3. He was an interesting German.

Somehow it was close to 9 pm, which is when the park closed, and we weren't close to being done. Must eat/drink more!

Got to India:

Tony got the last beer.

And we had had super good samosas! Spicy and hot! Numm num. Darin and Tony got the shrimp dish (don't remember the name). They said it was the best food yet!

Then was China and the Chicken Sha Cha aka chicken on a stick. Best value overall. My opinion. We love our food on a stick, and honestly were looking for more foods on a stick at the festival. Oh well.

The fireworks extravaganza was about to start - it's a Disney thing - but we still had my most favorite place to go in Epcot.

Norway.

I love Norway.

It's my favorite place to go in Epcot because of the cheesy ride and troll to greet you at the end. So fun. (Even better after having wine/beer from all over the country/world.)

A Darin sandwich.
(He looks too happy...)

Girls with the troll.

Boys with the troll.

How can you think that's not the best thing ever?

Then it was time to leave. Tear.

But for some reason (Carrie.) we had to stop again in England to get another beer.

Janice and the cute glasses.

Me with a snakebite.
Shiver.

And then we had to finish said beer in the 100 meters it took to walk to the back gate. So we chugged it.

Del, Darin, and Carrie

Angie and Tony

I have to give credit to Ang and Tony for drinking most of my beer. And Darin's beer too. It was too much. And not like Bud Lite and easy to chug. Nope. A snakebite and Boddingtons.

We all had a blast. I love Epcot. And Norway. And creme brulee. And chicken on a stick.

So much fun. You should join us next year!

Although I commend your very thorough replay of your EPCOT adventure, you left out the part where we called Darrin and begged you guys to come join us at pleasure island for the LAST pleasure. ever.

Needless to say. we were crushed.
(but then we danced with some random Kissimmee trash and everything was better)

see you soon I hope :)
